Mixing paper flowers with real flowers

Flowers for weddings can sometimes cost a bomb. And it also feels like a waste to be tossing so many flowers after the ceremony if no one wants to take them home.

I’ve been quite keen on making paper flowers for our wedding but we’ll see how many I can whip up in time. I had thoughts of mixing paper flowers with real flowers but wasn’t really sure how they’d look.

And then I came across these!

Gold cutlery

The hunt has begun. Previously, home decor and household items were a matter of daydreaming and browsing. But now with our upcoming new home, things are getting serious!

Recently, my fiance and I came across gold cutlery at a store. I had always seen them in food style photos and thought they were pretty cool. But actually holding them and thinking of using them on a daily basis needed some mental adjustment. After all, most cutlery we’re used to is silver, and gold felt… different.

So I started searching for more gold cutlery online to see if I could start getting used to it… Paired with simple white plates,  these gold babies make everything look so good!

Stand-in engagement rings

It’s been a pretty hectic month and I apologize for being so absent! Trying to launch a camera handbag business, planning a wedding, finding a new home (and now learning about renovation) has certainly made life a little… different, for lack of a better word.

But one thing that has been following me around on occasion is my stand-in engagement ring. What’s that again?  There’s probably a better term for it but that’s what I’ve been calling it for now :)

This is the one I decided on from LulisPlace on Etsy:

I love how it’s a different type of knot in a simple but classic type of way. It was the only one I couldn’t stop thinking about after searching through countless product pages!

Lulu, the shop owner, was also really patient and prompt in answering my questions about international ring sizes, nickel allergies and having it shipped to Singapore. It even came with a polishing cloth. A month of bashing it about and it’s still perfect. I highly recommend her and her shop! :)

Here’s the full story of how it came about:

Review: DrGL foundation and pressed powder

Even though I’ve been a freelance makeup artist and designer for some time, I realised I haven’t been consistently putting up beauty or makeup tutorials. And the truth is… I’ve been trying to avoid putting my face on my site as much as possible. (See how small my face is on my profile photo on the right? Yeap!)

This year, I’ve partially decided to be less self-conscious and well, just go for it! After all, I started this blog to share useful things I’ve learnt with others. And if there’s at least one person who can benefit from my posts, then I guess my time spent would have been worth it :)

Today’s review will be on foundation and sensitive skin pressed powder by DrGL.

Make a wedding card box

One of the best parts of planning a wedding has definitely got to be the DIY craft projects!

The project for today was a wedding card box (also known as an ang bao/ “red packet” box in Singapore).

As people usually place money inside cards or red packets, I decided that a box would be better than an open case. Just for safety reasons, as cautioned by the wiser, older folks ;)
